The School of Theology of AUTh in collaboration with the Thematic Reference Group on Human Rights of the Conference of European Churches (CEC-KEK), developed a programme addressing the Rights of Women and Children. The Summer School on Human Rights will take place from Tuesday 31 May - Saturday 4 June 2016 in the School of Theology of Aristile University of Thesaloniki. Each day will start with theological reflections from different CEC Member Church traditions. The day will continue with lectures on national, European and international Human Rights as well as on instruments of protectioon of Women’s and Children’s Rights. The third session of the day will be devoted to the implementation of these rights and to good practice from different churces and organizations. Moreover students will have the opportunity to go on a field mission and visit a relocation camp near Thessaloniki.

Professor of Law and Director of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS) at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, USA Mr Cole Durham will deliver during the opening session the keynote speech on “Women and Children’s Rights in the International Legal Framework”.

The Summer School investigates the way that Churches in Europe understand and practice Human Rights and particularly the Rights of Child and Women. Students will be aware of the theological presuppositions of HR as well as of the relevant legal and institutional framework in Europe. Moreover they will have the chance to know how Churches work in practice on the field of the protection of Child and Women.
